INTERNATIONAL-STANDARD RAW MATERIAL ZONES – A LAUNCHPAD FOR VIETNAMESE DURIAN TO REACH THE WORLD

Vietnamese durians are gradually asserting their position on the global fruit export map. To achieve this, the key foundational factor lies in high-quality durian growing regions that are systematically invested in and meet international standards. These cultivation areas, stretching from the Central Highlands of Lâm Đồng and Đắk Lắk to the Mekong Delta, serve as the "heart" supplying a stable and sustainable yield for the durian processing and export industry.

Durian Growing Regions in Vietnam

1. Ideal Natural Conditions for Durian Cultivation

Vietnam has a tropical monsoon climate with rainfall and temperatures well-suited for durian growth. Notably, areas such as:

Lâm Đồng, Đắk Lắk, and Gia Lai: These regions have ideal altitudes, fertile basalt soil, and cool climates that help durians ripen evenly, with thick flesh and a rich aroma.

Tiền Giang, Bến Tre, and Vĩnh Long (part of the Mekong Delta): With river systems that provide fertile alluvial soil, these areas produce sweet durians with thin rinds and high flesh ratios.

These natural advantages contribute to producing high-quality durians that have distinctive characteristics compared to those grown in other countries.

2. Extensive Area with Clear Growing Region Codes

To date, Vietnam has tens of thousands of hectares of durian cultivation areas that have been granted official planting area codes for formal export—especially to China, the world’s largest consumer market. These regions all meet standards such as VietGAP and GlobalG.A.P., ensuring safety and traceability from cultivation and care to harvesting.

3. Linkage Models – Ensuring a Stable Supply Chain

Many businesses, including B’Laofood Co., Ltd., have proactively built strong linkage models with farmers and cooperatives. By providing technical support, high-quality seedlings, and stable purchasing prices, these growing areas are becoming increasingly professional and ensuring consistent yields throughout each season.

4. Aiming for Sustainable Development and Long-term Export

With a vision for sustainable agricultural development, Vietnam continues to expand durian cultivation areas that meet standards, improve plant quality, upgrade farming techniques, and invest in post-harvest stages. Thanks to these efforts, the durian industry is gradually building a closed value chain—from cultivation to IQF processing and global distribution.
